Critical Thinking and Media Literacy: Learning to Question Information
In today’s digital world, we receive information every second from social media, news, and advertisements. However, not all this information is true or reliable. Sometimes it can be biased, exaggerated, or even false.
Critical thinking means asking questions before we believe or share something. For example:
Who created this message?
What is the purpose: to inform, to sell, or to manipulate?
Is there real evidence or credible sources?
Media literacy is the ability to understand and analyze media. It helps us identify fake news and avoid misinformation. For instance, if I read a post on social media that promises a miracle product, I can check if there are scientific sources or if it is only advertising.
By practicing critical thinking and media literacy, we protect ourselves and others. We also learn to make better decisions in our personal life, our studies, and our work.
